Home

A long trip from Antwerp to romsey, around 300 miles, but that includes the tunnel. A bit of a faff getting out of Antwerp, mainly due to poor signposting, but apart from that a trouble-free journey.
The tunnel is such a straightforward way to get across the channel. I imagine ferries to be more problematic, especially for a small person on a big and heavily loaded bike.
We arrived early and were put on an earlier train, so were home in good time to collect the dogs from kennels.

Antwerp

Another easy journey- perhaps we should have been more ambitious, but it's good to be able to spend a decent amount of time in a new city.
Antwerp grows on one more gradually than with the other cities we have visited on this trip. It is worth giving a bit of time to get to know it. Lots of nice bars and restaurants towards the cathedral.
As a nod to my printing past we visited the Plantin museum. Even if you have no interest in print, it's worth a visit for the interiors and the atmosphere of a prosperous town house in the 17th and 18th centuries.
This is our last night abroad. Tomorrow we head for Calais and home.

Groningen

Arrived at lunchtime. Groningen is a pleasant town, the centre being surrounded by canals. Great entertainment in watching bridge master cycling from bridge to bridge to open them for a yacht.
Cycling is manic here, but we've only seen one minor collision.
Off to Antwerp in the morning, for our last night in foreign parts
